I've often wondered, what is the purpose of those piers??? In any event, those things aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Yasmin, why didn't you go in from the lower end? There's a handicapped area there as well and a lot more parking.

What I can't figure out is how exactly does one fish from those piers anyway?

I did not know there was a handicapped section at the lower end, I will check it out. To be honest i haven't been there that many times to know all the ins and outs thanks for the heads up, appreciate it.

In regards to the piers I think it's great. It's not really bothering anybody (aside from being an eyesore) and it allows handicapped people to at least be able to go to a river and not have to worry about rolling into the water. Maybe they are not going to necessarily fish off of it. When i mentioned it to my grandfather he never once talked about fishing off of it. All he talked about was being able to watch me and give me some pointers. I'm sure this might be the case with a lot of people's grandfathers who fish and want to pass that down to their grandkids.

Then again I'm still a beginner and not that knowledgeable, so for all I know it could disrupt the river's ecosystem. if it does then maybe it's a different story and my view might change.

Thanks again Catchm for the heads up, I'm definitely going to check it out.

Yasmin, to get to the lower parking area; go to intersection of Cregar Rd and Rt 513 (easy landmark is Top Of The Hill Deli). Turn down Cregar Rd (opposite side of Rt 513 from the deli), follow road , under old railroad bridge, over bridge, turn left and follow the road along the river to the parking lot.
I fished there yesterday, caught a few, will be back later in the week.

I tried KLG again this saturday from about 3-5. I didnt get much fishing in because im still slow with tying knots and had a few break offs / had to tie up a few rigs for a newbie that I brought along. Managed to catch a little 7 or 8 inch brown though in almost the same spot as last time. Beadhead pheasant tail nymph did the trick. As it got dark I began to wonder how productive nymping might be in the dark ( I know some guys do night trips for browns, but idk how they do it ). Is nymphing in the dark even effective? I would figure it would be most effective to through out a spinner with my spinning gear under a full moon (to get some light/flash) or something to have any luck...But I dont really know, and would like to stick with my fly rod. Any effective night time fly fishing tactics any of you are familiar with (especialy nypmhing)?

Also, I did some saltwater sunday, without the fly rod; No luck with the tuna but got a few blackfish. I cant complain

I watched a fly fishing show where they fished for monster browns on the white river in AR. They were chucking big streamers.
