West Branch of the Delaware 9/14/2007

Got up in the morning and check the flopw and saw that is was a dismal looking 200 cfs. I must admit I was a little worried about how well we would do. The fishing was tough for the first 30 minutes or so. Then, it was like someone flipped a switch. The action was non-stop for the next two hours. Sometimes it was fish on 4 or 5 consecutive casts. The water has a green/grey tint to it since the reservoir is getting lower. However it is obvious that the fish do not care! The hatches were not very heavy at anytime period of the day. The smaller sulphers are on their way out. We saw BWO's in sizes ranging btween a 16 and a 24, with the smaller ones being more prevalent. I also observed some tan and black caddis hatching throughout the day. All fish were caught on small mayfly nymph imitations. The rs2 was the fly of choice for the day. Over half of the trout were caught on it. If I told you guys how many trout were hooked/caught you would not believe it... lets just leave it at there were a ton caught ;D

Great to hear, as expected! I knew there'd be a slaying this morning. Looking forward to the pictures!
I've been tying up plenty of bwo's in those sizes, so I'm psyched for the fall. Cheers again to the RS2! I know I'm going to use that fly a lot from now on, I'm glad I learned it first hand.

Were there many other anglers? I imagine as the season is winding down in terms of time, more and will attempt there luck there. Btw, where's my Chinese food?

Yeah Dave... I am trying to use capital letters and the correct punctuation. I was told by some I trust to get it perfect lol
Maybe, in November we can go to the Lake O tribs for Steelhead, Browns and the Rainbows? We can make our own video so we can get psyched up before steelhead season.

These are the two largest fish. One was 21.5 and the other was VERY close to 20 >

Caught 2 Browns, 14 and 17.in 4 hours. They jumped like rainbows. Either myself or the guy after me crushed my rod and reel as I left in a hurry to catch the evening hatch.at the East Branch
.Thanks Arron for your report that got me back up on the West Branch as I feel I am finally getting a handle on the trout fishing there. Did not see any other fishermen catch any fish. A guide with boat said they were doing well.
