    Beaverkill in November?

Is it worth a 3 hour trip to fish the Beaverkill in early/mid November?

I'm easy to please and don't need to be bailing fish all day. If I know there are some fish willing to cooperate I have no problem working for them. It's been a while since I wet a line and if I get an opening I would consider it.

    Any thoughts?

I would do some research on the Housatonic River in Connecticut. It's a beautiful stream with lots of fish this fall. I did a guide trip there not too long ago and whacked them pretty good.

Thanks for the comeback Aaron. I've never looked at CT but I'll certainly do so. It's (Danbury?) not any closer to me than say, Roscoe, but I'm definitely not afraid of the drive.

It's about 45 miles north of Danbury. I like to take 87 to 84 to the Taconic Parkway. Then get on 55 to 21 and that will get you there.

I also was going to hit up the Bemoc system tomorrow. I got skunked on the Willow last week so Im not looking to do that again. Couldn't uncrack the code. Never fish the Housy but have heard good things. Thinking of giving it a try tomorrow.
Aaron, not looking for specific spots but could you give a general area. I can find the fishy water. Should I go up to Cornwall Bridge or above / below? I like pocket water the most. Any advice would of course be appreciated..

Wingnut, the Housatonic is running high right now from all of the snow that fell over the weekend. It's about 1650 cfs now. For your first time up there I wouldn't go until the river gets to around 1200, unless you're going to float it. Here's the USGS flow link: USGS Real-Time Water Data for USGS 01199000 HOUSATONIC RIVER AT FALLS VILLAGE, CT.

    Sleeps,

I have NJ in the back of my mind. I fished the SBRaritan, Musky and Pequest a couple of times each, and although I have nothing against them, I find the SB and Musky difficult to wade. I swear I'm gonna break a leg there if I'm not really careful. The rocks seem to be large and very jagged and it's tough on my legs. I only fished the Pequest once and I don't know much about it yet. If I fish NJ that's probably where I'd go.

I only explored the Manasquan once. Found it too narrow for me to do well with the flyrod. I'm fishing a 9 foot rod and it's kind of close quarters. Maybe there are sections below where I was where it's easier but I'm not aware of them yet.

As far a stocked/non-stocked, if I have my choice I take my chances with non-stocked. Just my preference.

I got hooked on the WBDelaware last year and that's really my favorite. But I'd like to explore new rivers too, so I was interested when Aaron mentioned the Housy.
