Thanks for the information. I was unaware of the flow being high. You saved me from wasting a day. Guess I'll try something else.
Thanks

Good looks at the gauging station. 1,000 cfs or less is a good flow to go there on.
I went to the Pequest after work today and it was fun for a few hours.
How about maybe trying some of the SE Pennsylvania streams for wild fish?

Did anyone get a chance to fish the Beaver Kill in November? I put in some time over this past weekend but really spent a lot of it scratching my head. I took a very nice 16" brown out of the bottom of Horse Brook Run right under the overpass on an egg fly. But I just could not get anything going on nymphs. I also took a nice rainbow closer to the Jaws on a #20 Griffith's Gnat up top the next day. Really, in summary, I think the only success is just in that short window where some BWO and Midges hatch when the sun hits the water in the afternoon. The water is amazingly clear right now, and where regrettably I probably did too much short line nymphing, I'm sure I spooked away many many fish. The BK right now is definitely long leader required no matter if you are nymphing or up on top. I should have spent more time up top. Anybody been out that way lately? RHS

I did not. I read a lot of the comments posted here and decided I would fish the Pequest here in NJ instead, since I had only fished it once before.
I can't ever compare my catch numbers with a lot of the other regulars but for me, I had fun and did pretty well. Where are those two locations you mentioned on the BK? I'm not familiar with them.

Anybody hitting the no kill sections of the Beaver Kill or Willowemoc the last few weeks? What's the action like? We've had some wierd weather patterns. I was thinking it would be nice to have hit it today with cloud cover and air temps in the 50s but the flow is still a little high. Might have been a BWO paradise out there today.
In traveling for work today, I drove through Cornwall Bridge CT today and had my annual thought that I should really try the Housy over the winter. I live in NY between the two systems, probably just a little closer to the Housy but I have familiarity (and comfort) with the BK. Is Housatonic Meadow State Park "open" all winter? By that, I mean, not camping, but does the public have access to the park itself to enter to fish over the winter?

The entire Housatonic is public with ample parking and access. You'll like it and it can fish awesome during the winter and you might even get a big one!
