I have been thinking about a 10' 4wt One, but feel guilty about buying one when I love my Z Axis 4100, and an Echo Shadow PE is also on my wish list. Have you fished these rods, and if so, how does the One compare?

What type of nymphing do you plan on doing with the rod?

I would get the Greys Streamflex over the Echo Shadow PE. All you need to do is pick them up and the choice is easy. I would keep the Z Axis, it is a nice rod. I would get an 11 foot three or four weight Streamflex XF2, It's a great deal. It will also give you extra reach and line control, especially when EU nymhping.

Again, knowing how you plan on using the rod would help us help you make the decision. I was using the 11 foot three weight when you saw me.

I expect to use the rod for EU nymphing. I love the Z Axis and think it handles drys pretty well, so I was planning on keeping it. I'm not looking for versatility in the new rod as I think I have that covered. I assume the reel you were using which I mistook for a centerpin was chosen to balance the long rod. What was it?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

I would get the Greys Streamflex XF2 11 foot 3 weight. For a reel I use a 6/7 Nautilus FWX or you can put a Hardy 6,000 DD on it. Either reel will balance the rod very well. Make sure to get fl. orange backing so the reel looks cool. I have a Hardy DD and it's a nice reel. I tested out the prototypes with Howard when he was here in January.

A 10 foot three weight I'm assuming? I would get the RIO Trout LT WF with the camo tip. It's a wonderful line and is on all of my dry, European Nymph, and wet fly rods. It's a great all around general use line.

You'll love that rod. It's killer! I use it on the Delaware all the time when nymphing.
