Does the Housatanic have any wild fish or ist all put and take with some hold overs?
So far the Housy trout have not met their demise like last year when 95% of the trout succumbed to the hot low water conditions. We now have afternoon temps of 79 degrees and low water but this time last year it was much worse. There has been a minor fish kill there but it looks like the bulk of the population should survive this year. The fall fishing should be good.

Mostly P&T and holdovers. They do spawn in the feeders but I don't think there is any appreciable population of wild fish in the river.
When the CT DEP shocked the tributaries they found A LOT of young of year rainbow trout. I am site that some of the smaller rainbows that you catch are wild. I would not say that there is a wild trout fishery per se' but there are plenty of fish to catch throughout most of the year.
Have you fished there yet? It's a fun place.
No, I've not fished there yet. I've been thinking about a trip down sometime. Either the Farmington or the Housatanic, I'm about 5 hours from Hartford so it might be worth an overnighter sometime. I was checking out some of the places to stay on Upcountry's web site.
We got the rain you asked for!!!
