Anyone been on the Housy recently?

Thinking of a trip to the Housy tomorrow...anyone been out there lately? If so, any reports? not sure if I should make that drive or stay local to the Farmington?

    Thanks...

I fished it the first week of JUly. There was sporadic cahils at night size 18. During the day I slammed them on prince nymphs. Water was high that week due to rain the week before. The river has been high the whole season everyone was saying. Water temps were hovering just below 70 so it might be an early morning and dusk thing by now. The smallies weren't ouit in force as of then, that is usually the sign I go by, to call it quits on the trout untill things cool off. Good luck if you go. Check out Home Page ][ Housatonic River Outfitters ][ 860-672-1010. They have a great river report.

second what rocklobster said, dusk and dawn for trout, daytime for smallies. be careful putting too much stress on the trout during the summer there, they won't recover well from a long fight.

In this kind of heat most of those housy trout wont make it through the summer regardless if they are fished for or not.

Yes, after yesterdays heat, I was worried that it might be too much for some of them and I sure hope that is not the case!
