I know the some people swear by a dead drifted crayfish in the winter. I would imagine that a brown rubberlegs stonefly doubles up as one!

Thanks for this post, it made me fish a crayfish pattern the other night for small mouth down here in Virgina. I nymphed it thru some deep pockets with an indicator. Helped me pick up a few fish.

Try a white Zonker and see what happens!! never did well with Crawfish for trout. For carp and smallies it's a go to, Aside from the white Zonker as mentioned. I'll have to try it this winter AJ. Might work for Steel as well. Guys were catching a few on crawfish tube flies last season.
