I know that Alain did some crazy stuff with color spectrums a while back. It was specific to diffused light in the water column. I will take a look for it. It has to be in here somewhere.
I was thinking about light spectrums in relation to flies the other day. This probably has been covered somewhere within the depths of posts. Anyway, I was watching other anglers on the SR and I could'nt help but notice how differant color indi's. were showing in the light. It was obvious that the bright green indi's. were the most visible while orange looked pale. During the summer I could never see the green. I know that in the summer there is more "Blue" spectrums while in the fall it is more "orange". I'm going to guess that the green indi in the fall shows because of less absorbtion of the orange spectrum by the green indi. And the other way around in summer.
So with that said is it more adventageous to use flies with red/orange in them or should I be thinking of blue/greens ect. to stand out or use as hot spots this time of year. Could this be any reason flies with blue work so well over the winter?
Thoughts........

check out Colin Kageyama's book, What fish See, if you really want to understand what effect water has on light and how that affects colors of lures/flies etc underwater. it is a paperback Amato book, isbn 1-57188-140-9
WOW ! Thanks Adam. That's exactly what I was thinking about.
