Also, whats your setup for pike and larger freshwater species? Ive been using my 5wt on my lake and so far havent hooked up anything of substantial size yet.

New jersey puts pike in the Passaic river. I use at least an 8 wt, 25 lb leader with 80 lb flouro shock tippet. you could use a 5 wt but you will feel like I do when I use a 3 wt for river carp, arm weary. I use big( six inch plus) salt water flies. the only reason I used the gurgler was I forgot my big flies.
In the tri state area we have exceptional fly fishing. just about anything you want is within an hour of our door step.
