Thanks for posting the link.
Rich Murphy has published a large book on fly fishing for stripers, very good read.
I met him at the Marlborough show several years ago, he is really into double handed rods for salt water fly fishing.

Question: I am an obsessive compulsive fly fisherman. I fish for trout about 20 hrs per week. But..... i just can't give up the Zara Spook when it comes to stripers and large mouth. For instance last tuesday I fished all day on the Farmington then when I got home I put down the fly rod and grabbed the spin rod and caught four big stripers at sunset on my favorite cigar: the barbless ZARA SPOOK. This double life I that I am living as both a full time flyguy and a moon lighting spinguy; is it weird? should i get help? is there anyone who feels the same. This isn't easy for me, i m kinda coming out of the closet. no matter how hard I try I can't Quit, i just can't do w/o that explosion on the surface. I just gotta walk that dog.
Sipper, how about throwing some poppers or sliders to those stripers? A floating line on an 8wt should do the trick.
sipper,
I to love the spin gear. Zara Spook in fire tiger is my favorite top water lure for bass and pike. I think its fine to do both. I like to spin fish on the lake because I can cover lots of water. I have tried using my 8wt on the lake but just end up picking up my spinning rod.
Thanks for the support VTflyfisher. I feel alot better now! long live the SPOOK! Nothing beats a nice sunset w my Zara,... except a nice trico spinner fall of course.
