I fished the Point Mt trout management stretch today. I went there at about 10:00 AM after fishing the Gorge and stayed afor about 2 hours. There was no one else in sight and I caught a bunch of fish, mostly Brookies. Unfortunately, bait slingers are a way of life but they do lay down the $s for licenses which funds the stocking. On the other hand if we had more delayed harvest areas perhaps we could get by with less stocking, quality rather than quantity. My $.02.

I was talking to Tom about this. Have sections where it's c and r till June first then let them kill everything. This way there would be more areas where people could enjoy the resource for a few months.

i have done well on the open water this year and at Pt Mt. Caught a ton of the culled rainbows from last year at Pt mt. I have not fished down as far as asbury i don't think this year, but i have had many double digit days on the musky. I do not have a problem with people keeping fish, i have much more of a problem with conservation in Jersey, if you think it is a problem here head down to Western Maryland or WVa.

I had a good early season at the Musky even fishing right next to bait chuckers. Actually one day down near Asbury I had a 20 Rainbow day and the bait fisherman weren't catching a thing! One of them yelled down to me "you fly fisherman cheat"! What a great day that was seeing their faces as I was throwing every fish back and watched them leave disgusted with empty stringers ;D I even had my usual conversation with some of them about promoting catch and realease, fly fishing, conservation, not taking more fish than you are going to eat (no hoarding), etc. I think I even turned a few them on to fly fishing Some people just don't know any better and need to be informed. You have to have patience and educate them.
At least they made the Pt. Mountain stretch a year round TCA now. Recently I've been having fun with the browns and some rainbows on dry flies there. Had a couple 15 or more fish days and one 20 fish day and only one other fisherman on the whole stretch. In a few months they will start the river improvement project of the Pt. Mountain stretch and I will be volunteering. The stretch below the bridge will also become part of the TCA in the future.
