    Monocacy Creek 3/27/10

Got to finally fish the Monacacy Creek, Trophy Tout section today from 12-5PM.

It was fantastic. I caught most fish on a variation of the prince nymph and Walt's worm. Also about 330, there was a pretty good hatch of BWO. I generally don't carry dry flies but I did have a couple of size 18 Adams Irresistables and tried them out. They fooled them fine. 23 wild browns landed in total size ranging from 5-14". Impressive little fighters. A great way to end the last weekend of "closed" season in PA.

I will post some pictures soon.

Nice day! Was the hatch heavy or was it more sporadic? When I was fishing the streams in that area last week, I noticed that the hatches were quite weak. maybe its just getting going? I did see a few back in January?Maybe the strange weather has the bugs a little confused...

BWO ... heavy for about 20 minutes. The water was boiling. I never would have believed that there were so many fish in a small area.

Most really good days for me are 3-6 fish. Today was a nice surprise.
