Euro Nymphing

Ok guys I am going to try Euro Nymphing. I get the basic idea I just need to know how to rig my rod. Do use straight up mono? How long should the leader be? Do you still use fly line? At what point do you tie in the sighter?

The other day I made a short line leader in a pinch out of my 5x leader. I cut the butt section down to about 3 1/2 feet tied in my sighter then your flouro leader is 1 1/2 to 2 times the depth of the water your fishing. Sorry didn't realize there was more to your question. I would start out short lining its easier. Your not really going to use your fly line your going to water load your rod and lob tour flies upstream and lead them back at the just enough speed to keep your line tight. Keeping your line tight will aid in your strike detection.

Fishing with my friend today, he could not believe that I was hooking fish 3-4 feet in front of me. He kept telling me, you're gonna spook the fish out of there. After hooking the 3rd one he stopped saying that and asked to look at my leader.......lol
