    Willi TMA 3/16 & 3/17

I hit the willi during lunch on Monday and landed one rainbow on a brown wooly bugger. Water was a little high still, very clear and lower 40s. I only had an hour so I decided to fish below the gravel pit large bend in the river as a gentlemen was just heading in to the fish the 84 bridge pool. I finally got the rainbow right at the end of the pool at the bend. Nice afternoon to be out.

I stopped by the Willi Tuesday after work from 5 - 7pm. Started fishing buggers in the down river pool at the 84 bridge. Me and a friend. No hits, flashes or bumps. Switched over to some nymphs and once again no hits, bumps or fish seen. Water was about 44, still real clear and little high.

Both times I didn't see any noticeable feeding activity. Lots of folks out fishing both days (had to be 7 vehicles in the park of 74 - Saw a few guys fishing the gravel pit pool) which could be part of the lock jaw issue. It will pick up though, no doubt.

Stocked trout can be funny when the water temps are colder when they first get stocked. Once they get used to the lower temperatures in the stream they get crazy. If its forty there and they were used to 50-55 water temps at the hatchery for over a year. it throwns them off. This with the addition of a new surrounding can make it tough right off the bat.

Did the DEP stock the Willi yet this Spring? Sometimes they don't do it until late March/early April.

The Willi was stock on Friday March 6th with 1000 trout. I stopped by the river that Friday at lunch to check the conditions and they were just finishing up. The upper portion (non TMA was also stocked).

I live in Seymour and have been checking the Naugy and haven't seen any signes of stocking yet.I fished the Mill in Hamden several times this week with good results. Hit a bunch on an 18 olive comparadun yesterday.Another guy said they came off pretty heavy around 2:30 when the rain ended.Lots of fat rainbows.Did hear of a 5 lber taken on a mealworm, didn't think you could use bait but who knows.Gonna get back to the Farmington Sunday.
