    Where have you been ??

Aaron's post about "Name that River" got me to thinking about everywhere I have fished for trout......I mean legitimate, named, trout waters (small native brookie streams excluded).

Best that I can come up with is 66 places? Man it seemed like a lot more but when I say "66" it sure seems like a drop in the bucket when you consider how much good trout water there really is out there in this country.
Sure there are places on that list that many would give their left (you pick ) to fish and I know some of these waters very well, but I'm feeling like a slacker. Might have to pick a couple new destination waters this year to add to the list.(Or maybe go to visit an old friend)

Anyone else catalog all the trout waters they've actually fly fished? I wonder how many waters we have in common, have shared and maybe fished at the same time.

Brookie, Nice list.......guessing you like Steelhead too.
We must must both be from the NE and yet out of almost 150 waters listed between us surpisingly we only share 9 of them.

The only place I know I've fished for trout that probably no one else on here has is Iowa. It's also actually one of my favorite places to fish for trout.

Iowa is right in that driftless area. I've never fished it, but it's supposed to be very good. I know they rely more on stocking there than in neighboring Wisconsin.

Re: Where have you been ??

My father has a farm in north western Iowa with a spring creek stream that runs right along the back of his property. I believe they do stock a lot of their streams, the one that runs along his property has some gorgeous naturally reproducing bows. I believe they do or have stocked the stream, but there are LOTS of wild fish in it.

I also have a picture of about a 5 pound bow that I took out of there when i was about 16 laying around somewhere.

There are some really big fish to be had there, and there is little to no fishing pressure on a lot of the Iowa trout streams.

Re: Where have you been ??

Seein how I am probably the least experienced fly fisherman on the board I included water that I have fished with spinning tackle. These have an asterisk next to them.

    !) Lopatcong Creek-NJ
    2) Pohatcong Creek-NJ
    3) Musky-NJ
    4) *Pequest-NJ
    5) *Spring Mill Creek-NJ
    6) *Bushkill Creek-PA
    7) *Pine Creek-PA
    8 *Deer Creek-PA
    9) *Slippery Rock Creek-PA
    10) *Buffalo Creek-PA
    11) *Bull Creek-PA
    12) *Little Shenango River-PA
    13) *Tionesta Creek-PA
    14) *Little Sandy Creek-PA
    15) *Grand River-OH
    16) *Chagrin River-OH
    17) *Cold Creek-OH
    and last but not least-----
    18) *A little stream near Middlebury VT that I can't remember the name of. It was THE coldest stream I ever fell into...lol

Most of the PA streams I fished alongside my father when I was a kid. I blame him for my fishing obsession.

I forgot about the SB Raritan in my post. I caught my first trout flyfishing there last year.

    Flyfisher,
Is that the same Red Bank Creek that empties into the Allegheny? Many of those PA creeks you listed look very familiar to me, I may have fished them with my father but that was many years ago.
