    Re: Terresterial Patterns!!

Black Foam Beetle. Preferably with a "sighter" made of fl. orange Glo-Bug yarn on top so I can see the damn thing. Underbody of peacock Ice Dub or real peacock is optional, as are legs on each side from black Krystal Flash- the plain version without these works just fine for the record. Definitely my #1 go-to terrestrial. Beetles are supposedly the most common insect, and as most or all can fly, they often end up on the water during mild weather (pretty much April thru October). If I could only pick 3 dries, this would be one of them. I usually fish them in #14-16, but you can catch trout on them from a #10 (or bigger) down to #20 & smaller. However, one of the beauties of this fly is that you don't typically have to go small! Love nailing trout on the Farmington on #14 beetles on 5x while others are using #26's on 8x and not catching as many.
