    Tully on Valentines Day

I mean really, is there anything more romantic?

I fished at the paper mill confluence with Cacoosing Creek. I was alone for the first hour or so. I saw some very small greyish midges rising, but I nymphed the entire time. Caught a small 8-9 in rainbow and 2 suckers. Nothing spectacular other than some nice time out and some peace.

I may get out again tomorrow. Pending wife etc....

    Re: Tully on Valentines Day

I went back today for only an hour. I was having no luck and changed out of the usual "go to" nymphs and tied on a size 10 woolly bugger and landed what seemed to be a 14" wild brown, which does not seem right. I wish I took pictures, but I had little time and my wife was with me (meaning no matter how she dresses she will get cold). The adipose fin was blood red and its spotting seemed to be brilliant compared to the many browns that I have taken from the very same area.

Anyway, still very cool to get out and fish within 3 miles of my home.

I used to fish the Tully a little bit when I lived in the Pottsville area.......mostly in winter too.
If I remember the Tully gets mostly fingerling stockies? I used to go down there in the winter and catch 8-9" trout all day long on warmer days on midges and they were nice pretty almost wild looking fish.

My guess is that you caught one of those fingerlings that has seen a couple birthdays?

    Re: Tully on Valentines Day

Did you see anyone out there fishing? I heard that they had a fairly substantial fish kill there this summer. It's good to see that some of the fish made it through. I wish that they didn't revert back to mostly adult stocking there. The holdover fish that were stocked as fingerlings did quite well there. I think that the TU chapter there is continuing the stocking of fingerlings to some extent.

    Re: Tully on Valentines Day

Both days I saw only one other person (other than my wife and I).

Dec 30th they did an adult stocking, but I heard it was limited. And the PFBC stocked Brook Trout fingerlings Jan 20th. I have not encountered any of those guys yet.

Today I will try to get out for a couple of hours. We will see. Depends on preparing for a rehearsal and other life stuff.
