How about a warm water section?
Smallies already this year? I thought maybe it was still early. Nice photos.
You want it... you got it!
those are awesome bass. i wish we had them that big on the housy! what type of line were you using? were you using an intermediate like?
WF-F 8wt gpx in about 6 ft of water with a cone head estaz bugger type thing, Its kind of like a meat whistle.
Hey Aaron - they are getting bigger every year on the Hous. I fished for a half hour on Tuesday and caught four. These two both went 14in. Very fat and heavy. I used the T-300 with a black super bugger. The water is high and muddy, but the quiet seams near shore are producing. By the way, there were lots of Hendricksons hatching. I also saw the mergansers herding bait, so I think there must be a lot of food around for large, hungry trout.
the bass fishing is more fun now with the larger fish. i wonder why they have gotten bigger? i have even noticed that there are more pike in there too!
The rough species definitely benefit from natural flow. The natural flow has lead to better water clarity and I think that helps the pike since they are ambush predators. I believe the bass spawn more effectively in the natural flow. Last year, I caught a two foot pike on a chartreuse Clouser right by the Hous. Church Pool. My friend saw a dead larger one in the upper TMA. These fish all feast on the 9in stockies.
Can't wait for the water to come down.
To do the river justice, you guys need to start throwing the pike onto the shore after you take your pictures. They are actually great eating. These pike will become more of problem to our trout population as time progresses. Please do your part and take them home.
