I have never tried it but i like it! I looks easy to tie and it looks fishy!
I was wondering if anyone has tried any of these style flies (http://flyfisherman.com/ftb/kgcripple/index1.html). I became aware of it after listening to a podcast interview where Kelly states that he often goes to this pattern 1st even if it's obvious the fish are going for the standard duns. I was looking to tie up a few to try this spring. If anyone has tried this style, how was your luck with them, and did you notice if it works better for some species than others? I would think it would work better for hatches which tend to occur on windy or slightly rainy days.

I tie a lot of cripple duns, but mine are a bit different than that one. I tie the cripples in isonichia, hendrickson, olive, (pretty much anything that has a good spinner fall). The key to a cripple is trimming the hackle so it sits very flat on the water.
