    Saucon and Little Lehigh

Blacklabel and I decided to take a trip out to PA today. The day started off great, the water was clear and the weather was warm. As the day progressed people started to file into the Little Lehigh, and the melt water from the banks started to stain the water. We caught some fish early in the morning, and decided to take a trip over to the saucon after the lehigh started to get a little packed.
The saucon was pretty high and the water looked like chocolate milk. You couldn't make a cast without your fly coming back up covered in gunk from the water. We decided to go back to the lehigh after being fed up with cleaning our flies every other cast.
When we made it back to the lehigh the crowds were ridiculous all the way down the river. The water here was now really stained, I was less than stoked to see the crowds and the water color. All in all it was a less than stellar day, but blacklabel managed to get himself a golden brown, LOL.

Here are a few pics from the day.

The Vladi worm catches everything. Even golden browns.

I thought it was crazy that those carp were holding in the same water as those trout.

That looks like a sucker to me not a Carp. Did you try sucker spawn that would be my guess on why the trout and suckers were together. Also suckers will work nymphs loose off the bottom so the trout know to stay near them for an easy meal.

Carp or sucker that thing was ugly. It was strange to see them swim right next to each other.

It sounds to me like its sucker spawn time over there! The trout lose their minds when that happens. Next time you go there be sure to have them tied up and ready to go.

If it stays warm, I wont be planning on going back any time soon. The crowds were almost like the pequest. Maybe worse up by the hatchery. Seeing as how I got skunked on the saucon again, I will definitely be going back there sooner than later, but I might skip the lehigh next time.

    SR next weekend!
