    Housatonic TMA 8/27/08

Fished late afternoon and evening with Aaron and Brookie. I would rate the fishing as good, but maybe not great. We all caught a mix of trout and bass, fishing mostly the faster heads of pools and some pocket water. I used an indicator, while the other guys used a Euro sighter setup. I saw Isonychia, Potomanthus, sulphurs and lots of black caddis. The bass are still very active and many were caught on my larger nymphs. My four trout all took an Isonychia nymph variation. Water was initially quite warm, around 72-74deg, so we waited for the sun to set a bit more. It rapidly cooled down starting around 530pm. Air temp was a chilly 60deg when I quit. It was fun to be out, as always.

I should note we compared water temperature readings between my old analog instrument versus a modern electronic one. The measured temperatures never varied by more than one degree, or around 1-2%.
