Sounds like the fishing is great and did you take any pic's of the fish

thei fishing is getting better there. i went today after work and caught a ton of fish. the best part is that the trout are starting to spread out and smarten up. the best fishing was not in the pools today. the majority of fish were caught in water where you get a few and then can move on. the deeper pockets are starting to hold fish. this will spread the people around a little more. also, i got a few nicer rainbows from the fall and a wild 6 inch brook trout by fishing the pocket water. also, start fishing with flies that are smaller and more representative of the food items that are in there.... think midges. i caught a lot of fish today on midge larvae.

What a beauty! I had no idea midges were so important in the Gorge. I thought it was more of a caddis river. I'll have to fish some migde patterns down there. Any suggestions? Do you fish them as a dropper?
You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish.

as far as midges trout5 i would use something like a black beaty or a zebra midge. they both produce very well for me. make sure to have them in black or brown from a size 18 to a 22. dont be afraid to fish small nymphs even in really fast water... especially if it is clear.
