    Stockie Bashing 3/27

it was too nice to go to the gym yesterrday. i went fishing with juice as my guide since he goes more than me now. we went to the sbr. there are tons of recently stocked brook trout that will hit almost anything within reason. pink and orange eggs as well as green weenies were the ticket ;D ;D if you are a beginning fly fisherman and need practice with your nymphing this would be the place to go. there are lots of willing participants (trout) there. the only thing that is upsetting is that the new fish mess up the great fishing that we had for the holdovers prior to the stocking. soon the older fish will start to take up feeding lies and the fishing will be great for catching larger and newly stocked fish. i did lose one really nice rainbow of about 18 inches. it was a perfect fix for a few hours after work.

I'm going to the gorge and I'm going to long line. Hahaha. I'm tying 16 dropers on and going to see how many stockers I can hook up at once!

Aaron, could you describe that dropper setup? Do you tie the dropper off the hook bend? How much tippet and where do you apply the weight?

    OOsuregeons knot-------------------------------------first fly-------------------------------------dropper fly

i put my weight above the surgeons knot so that the weights do not slide to the eyes of the fly. i make the tippet anywhere from 12 to 18 inches. i tie the dropper to the eyes of the hook. i think that this is better because the tippet can not mess up the tails of the fly. i tie my dropper about 18 inches from the first fly. for all of my nymph fishing i am using flourocarbon tippets. yesterday i was using 4X. i hope this helps.
