Lake Michigan Tributary Spring Steelhead Highlights 2012

As you all know, the spring run for great lakes Steelhead will be starting shortly. It's my favorite run of the year. This is a short highlight video I constructed of our spring season footage of fly fishing for Great Lakes Steelhead in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in 2012. I hope you enjoy it.

Those silver fish look awesome in that tannic stained water. Do you ever fish for the summer run fish?

We are hard pressed to find them. The skamania happen to be extremely rare. Most of the rivers here are too low or two warm to support large populations of summer run steelhead. I did in fact catch my first this year though. I will bet he was the last one in the river. I spotted him in a deep pool and he took my stonefly nymph.

Are the rivers as crowded as here on the Ontario or Erie tribs?

No. I rarely see people ever. On larger rivers, you will see some. It's rarely ever crowded.
