awesome looking fish. you are an absolute monster at catching fish so consistently
Tom and I fished the South Branch of the Raraitan just about everywhere looking for some fish rising for Hendricksons. After a few hours we gave up and nymphed. Holy Crap the club pigs are all over the public water! it was a fun day. We got everything from pig rainbows to wild brookies. Once again Euro (French) nymphing saved the day.
Sparkle power bait
She looked nice sitting there! Too bad those damn bugs didn't hatch
The Pequest Bow... had to throw that one in![]()

Nice fish! I especially like those wild browns
I'm goin to be at the SB on the 11th, hope to find some of those good looking fish as well.
When they come to conficate your gun, LET THEM HAVE IT...........Then reload.
As long as the river isn't blown out you will catch fish. That river has fish in it 365.
That river can be good all year except for floodingThere is a very high number of large trout cruising around this season due to all the high water. The club mutant bows are everywhere! It's fun to fish a run and hook a 20" plus rainbow, but you are right the wild trout are special!
Im headin' down to the gorge this weekend hopefully, one question a ways back I hooked into a brown that was all of thirty inches(the bugger jumped the net and broke the line), a true ferox, any chance it was wild or a club fish that swam up stream?
Fish, sleep, eat, repeat.
A 30" brown is beyond an impressive fish most likely it was a club fish that decided to use it's fins and disregarded the wire it shouldn't swim pass.
Those are the nicest rainbows that river has to offer! I'm going to go ahead and say even club fish that measure a full 30 are far and few between, although I have seen. Aaron nail one that was pretty darn close.
When following the south branch around you never know what you will come across. Some areas predominately wild fish, others mostly stocky, and some full of small mouth bass. It's not many stretches that don't hold fish. The hard part is figuring out where each type of fish is dominant. Just be mindful some stretches are off limits, but there is much access to be had.
Great report and even better fish.
