Nicely done, Aaron!!! Guess the flows had come down and the water temps up a bit? Great to see some healthy browns and an sweet rainbow getting active. Looks like you timed very well.
was awesome!
That's enough... you get the point
We wanted to eat here
I must admit that I was a little nervous when headed up to the river yesterday. I have been reading reports that the local experts have been having a tough go of it lately. I was especially cautious because it has been over five months since I have fished there. Due to the high water we ditched the European nymhping methods and went with strike indicator set ups. It was all of three casts and I had a nice 17 inch fish in the net. After that one the fishing was quite steady. Kristen who hasn’t fly fished since we went to Colorado even got some. We met Tony there in the am. He landed a beautiful brown on of all things a Prince nymph! Stonefly nymphs, winter caddis larva and bwo nymphs also took fish. It was a nice enjoyable day on the river.
It was a great day. We finished fishing at a little after one. We landed five fish in a row and we decided that was enough. So we went over to Upcountry bought some tying stuff, grabbed a bite to eat, Chinese of course and then went home!

Aaron, was this you first to the Farmington since we went? Nice results.

Luck is the Residue of Design!
Yes it was actually. There are quite a few fish left in there. I even saw one blue winged olive fly by before we left. Have you been up there lately? When the olives really get hatching there is going to be some really good dry fly fishing for holdover trout. The fish were in spots where if there was a hatch they could have easily slid into slower water to take flies off of the surface.
I haven't been since New Years Eve. Been tying when I've had a chance. I think I will be able to go this Friday. Any suggestions are always appreciated. We need to get something on the schedule. My Dad and I are really excited to learn some more!

Shoot me an e mail. I'll put you in the right spots.
looks like a helluva day, nice job Aaron.
I'll be hitting some river tomorrow trying to get on board for the first time this year.
Never under estimate the power of a Prince nymph ;D
3 casts and a 17" fish in the net - any day that starts that well has to be great. Those Farm fish look really healthy, and that Bow looks like he's been eating really well.
Anybody heading to the Farmy on Friday?
