I use GIMP, it doesn't have all the frills but it's pretty sick for freeware.

I've honed my chops pretty well on it.

    Re: Photoshop

I have made inroads into the use of Photoshop---frankly Photoshop Elements was massively confusing for me. I currently use Picassa & Photbucket and have enough there to be able to function in a manner of speaking. As for GIMP, I am not sure whether I trust another piece of software that is still in development? Undecided as of now on Gimp----

    Re: Photoshop

It's open source which by definition is always in development. It is free because the developers are of the mindset that good software can be built communally and financed by the users and participants without gouging the piss out of the end user.

It's awesome, no problems, no bugs.

If anyone has questions about photoshop, or wants to let me know what tips they might like to see I'd be glad to help. I'm a professional photographer so I've been using PS for quite some time ..

    Thanks Justin!

Can you photoshop a picture of my eyes as we were going through those kayak wires with the rod tips stuck on them?

Yeah Aaron .. I thing we would have to ask Adobe to create as special brush for that look ... but I'll work on it. I just spent most of the day with the Dali Lama today, and he shook my hand so I figure I can't go wrong this week end fishing!
