    CZech nymphing the Delaware System

I am just beginning to learn the Czech style of nymphing and plan to use it on the Del system this Fall. As those that fish it know the traditional take is that if there are no hatches the river can be tough. I have fished the system for many years and have had some success nymphing but am looking for something new to try. Traditionally I have used strike indicators and feel I have been missing fish or simply not getting deep enough!

    A few questions:

    1) Due to the size of the water can this technique be successfull? What sections suit this style. I am thinking Balls Eddy, Sheehawken on the West Branch

    2) Anybody use these techniques on the main stem or East branch? What sections....

    3) Any specific patterns?

    Thanks

Tie up all of your favorite nymphs that you use there. However, add lead to varying degrees as well as a tungsten bead.

You will want to use a long leader system between 20-25 feet when fishing there to keep some distance between you and the fish. Loren showed this in his clinic as we as showed the attendees how to use it. We might have another one this fall depending on his schedule. You might be interested on attending.

Hahaha ... I see you remember the thread!

Long leaders are used there but are not always cast directly upstream, as some of the lies will be across from you. When fishing weighted nymphs here I usually go lighter and use my sighter more for strike detection as I am fishing a good distance from he some of the time. I do this by greasing the sighter with Mucilin.

I'm curious to try the Euro nymphing methods on the Delware myself, guess I'll have to break down and set up for the long leader, esp. after the spanking I got from Aaron on the Farmington this week. I still think it was mostly 'cuz u crossed and fished the river from the other side though. That, and your "secret" flies- I actually never even thought to ask you what you were getting most of the fish on. I never went smaller than a #14, and I think that was a mistake, esp. after you said you got most on a #18. Duhhh!

... Oh yeah I forgot I got them on size 22 miracle nymphs .

How could I have made such a dumb mistake mixing up the names of flies that are so different!
