It's really not that easy to describe via text..really. It's not just the leader or the flies--you need to understand the THEORY.
Gotcha ;D Gotta save something to sell tickets, eh? Sounds like a great time - unfortunately I won't be able to attend. Maybe someone could PM some details to get me rolling... or not. No biggy.
AJ, btw - thanx for putting this site together. Unique to find a place with some good info on comp style fishing on rivers and lakes. Looking forward to future threads!
No worries! I found some great past threads in the Nymphing Discussion and a few articles online describing the actual construction of the leaders.
I hear ya! Just nice not to have to reinvent the wheel - know what I mean? It curves on this side, has a few spokes, whole in the middle, etc. etc. ;D Once the car is moving I can work on the tread and such.
OK--just build it so that your fly line does not need to be used and keep your sighter as close to your top dropper as is feasible. I use 10 feet of 20# Maxima, 10 feet of 15# Maxima, about a 12-16 inch sighter (curly wirly or backing) then probably 6 feet or so of tippet from my sighter to my point fly. Usually only use 2 flies in rivers. Tippet length and size is dependent on water speed and depth.
The things you can do with these rigs are pretty amazing. Almost unfair.
Wait... so you are implying that these technique catch fish
I wasn't trying to prod you, honest, but that does help a lot! Throw it in the mix with the other recipees I've read and see what works for me personally.
Wish I could do one of these seminars. Maybe some day. Internet school for now.

Nope--the person using them still does the work . Just remember what I showed you in 2 minutes that you did not get from months of emails, postings, and phone calls.
LW,
You make a great point even though I'm sure it has a slight selling edge: "2 minutes" or an hour on the stream with a pro can't replace hours upon hours if not days upon days of internet searching. There is absolutely nothing like hands on learning. I've experienced this again and again. However, I think it's the continual pursuit of knowledge that actually gives people access to a better "game." And the internet or phone calls or emails are a great way to keep the conversation live and active! No substitute for that al all... case in point this very forum.
