The gorge is really fishing great. I went down there again this afternoon and had a ball catching all three species. Brook, brown and rainbow , three fish on 4 casts. They were loving the ol' green weenie!

good job! did you see any fish rishing? the last time i was there i saw quite a few trout rising especially as it got darker out. i would guess they were feeding on midges. it would be nice to watch a dry fly rather than an indicator! ;D

I agree, some dry action would be more than welcome. It was pretty cold down there today though and no rising fish could be seen. Since it will still be in the forties all next week I'm thinking of going and hitting some Erie water. A little late season steely would be nice to usher in the spring.

have you ever tried the erie tribs in mid april? i went once and it was infested with suckers and the smolts. it was tough to get my offerings to the steelhead that were there. if you want to have crazy dropback steelhead wait till the cat goes down. i caught steelhead in there on memorial day weekend... and in good numbers! one key to doing well late season on the erie tribs is to fish the ultra fast water with big flies. also, have you even been to the salmon river for the dropbacks? its really good fishing. there are lots of fish and they bite really well.

Your reports on the Gorge got me back there after 43 years. No traffic during the morning. Got a 20" brown with a chewed up mouth, also 18" and 15" Rainbows on eggs and #16 black nymph on bobber and split shot method. Thanks again for your heads up articles!!!!!!!

That is excellent! Glad to have you back in the homewaters.... Thanks for the tips Aaron. i will look into all that and maybe just hit the Salmon river instead.
