Loren, thanks for the tip; I used to rig that way. Now I am quite happy with a clinch knot to the welded loop, works great for me. All this is a function of the guides on a particular rod anyway. The TFO 10ft 5wt seems to have oversized guides and that helps a lot. I am also using the 4wt Rio nymph line. I like the fact that the clinch knot is in the center of the fly line.
