The upper section of the Musky is silted up and have long been void of much insect life. The lower sections are not as bad. There are tons of stocked trout in all sections of the river. However, the lower section has good holdover rates because of the limestone valley that it flows through. There is also the chance of catching a real monster trout down there because of the clubs that stock loads of trout down near Asbury. There is less public access on the lower stretches but the fishing is notably better. To my knowledge their are no true "wild" trout in the river.
