I have had different waders and yes they all leaked. The thing I liked best with Simms is they leaked after about a year, when I sent them back they repaired them at no cost and I had them back in 2 weeks.

    Re: Purchasing waders...

I've only owned 2 pairs of waders in my short flyfishing life (3 years). A pair of Gander Mtn bootfoot, and a pair of cabelas stockingfoot. The gander waders are now my didymo specials/saltwater waders. The have gotten the little pinhole leaks from doing some bushwhacking and finding thorns but are easily patched with UV wader repair(thanks B). They finally got a bad leak in them on the seam next to my knee where the material rubs against each other but again was quickly patched with the UV stuff and i was back in business the same day. The cabelas are my go to and have only gotten 1 leak from a barbed wire fence that i didnt see until it was too late...I'd rather buy 7 pairs of waders than have 1 crazy pair of simms

Well I tell ya' Doobs. If you take the 5 leaky pairs that cost me $200 on average in the last 3-4 years and compare that to the price of Simms with their great return policy it seems it might be worth the $$.

On another note I've had great expeirances with anything Gore Tex. I hav'nt had the pleasure of Gore Tex waders but it's a must for any of my shoes.

I like the Orvis waders. Never had a issue with them. I have a pair of Cabelas neoprene waders for the cold stuff.

I'm pretty sure that within a year of purchase repairs/replacements are free (sans shipping). I sent my G3 boots in when the felt sole came off one of them, and they were just over a year old. Simms sent me a new pair anyways. Hence, I stick by them.

Seams(ha ha) to me that so long as you go with a reputable company, Orvis, Simms, Cabelas and Patagonia, Dan Bailey...you will be taken care of...Aaron I assume Hardy falls in there too. I think there is value in the market it just doesnt necessarily have a simms label on it. As far as out of the box quality...most of the products offered by any of these companies will probably be ok...but sometimes even the $400 plus waders that were made at the end of the third shift or first pair Monday morning will have problems.

So I broke out a big tub and filled it with water to find the leak in my right foot. I investigated all the seams ect. for holes or seperation and everything seems to perfectly fine. Put my hand in the leaky foot and submerged it in the tub for several minutes while flexing it in differant positions with not a drop intruding in. It's rather perplexing. I was just going to UV or Aqua Seal the problem but I can't find the problem.

You guys think I should call Dan Baily? What could I expect to hear from them? They are only 9 months old.
