    alain,

I really like ice dub, and I really like natural hair, blended together correctly makes a great dubbing. But I agree with you, most of the guys I know and myself indluded go through phases of trying out the latest and greatest synthetic tying materials but for whatever reason we usually end up going back to the natural stuff.

Alain have you tried Davy Wotton SLF squirrel dubbing? Comes in great colors and works very well with touch dubbing. I've got the 12 color box and comes with gray, dark brown, rusty brown, burnt orange, black, dark olive, golden olive, light olive, bleach ginger, green olive, brown olive and olive. Its a great dubbing and I use it for all kinds of things.

I like the Davey Woton Squirrel Dubbing as well. I
use it as a guide when I make my own batches of Squirrel dubbing

I've written about it before, but the swisher blends with rubber are great. I added it as a collar to the PT w/green bead that Aaron seems to like and it has worked thus far - a pic is posted somewhere in here. Also, just tie in a matching soft-hackle for similar effect - I do starling for mayfly, partridge for caddis. Hard to control for variables, but I am convinced a soft hackle on most nymphs improves the catch rate.

Nice fly above, the segmentation is damn impressive.

Duh, it turns out I already have the SLF squirrel dubbing and didn't even know it! I also have the 12 color box, it was hidden somewhere. I will give it a try. Thanks again for your help!

Two turns of hen hackle might make for a really nice collar.

I'm kind of embarrassed to show mine after Alain posted his. On this one I used stretch skin to go over the back. The collar is made with kaufman slf.

I think you might have to much material when you don't even realize you have a 4x8 box of dubbing. ;D
