    Re: Vladi Worm Tutorial

Having now fished the Vladi worm, I can vouch for it being a deadly fly for rainbows. Thanks for the excellent tutorial Loren. I fished it on Tuesday, and the Housy 'Bows below the TMA pounded it. And it doesn't hang up. I only hung it once, and it was wedged so badly in a deep spot I had to bust it off. Alain was kind enough to give me a couple he tied, and Aaron & I tied a few up tonight. I've never seen a fly that looks more like actual bait, like a real bug. Very cool, Siskel & Ebert give it 2 thumbs up.

    Loren,
Good job! I agree with Aaron. Your pics and instructions are great. Haven't tried tying them yet but I will. Nutman's posts are funny too. It will be interesting explaining this to my wife but when it comes to fishing and fly tying she's a good sport. Nymphmesiter is right too. Bow's really like pink for some reason. I usually do well fishing a pink San Juan when I know I'm fishing for rainbows. Very unique use of material-pink Condoms! Who would have thought? It's a great time to be fly fishing and fly tiyng with all the types of new materials out there and European tactics taking hold in the U.S. I think it's also very good that U.S flyfisher's are taking a look at other styles and techniques. I do know that Joe Humphreys nymphed that way in the early and mid 80's when he was in competition. He claims he started it and the Czech's copied him. I don't know for sure though if that's a completely accurate claim though. At any rate I think the Europeans are not as dogmatic as we are and much more progressive. What do you think?
