Hit a CT stream today to practice my Czech nymphing techniques. While the action was not fast and furious, I feel I did a pretty good job working the runs, riffles and deep slots.
Got these 2 right off the bat:
then the action slowed to a crawl, till I netted another decent rainbow.
On the walk back to the truck, I decided to hit a spot that has yielded a fish or 2 for me in the past.
And this is the result:
21.5 inches measured of hard fighting brown trout! When it first came to the surface, my first thought was "holy @#$*%, that is a big one!"
As a bonus, I got to see a mink swim by me in the current, and the caddis were everywhere in the air, as well as a bunch of mayfly spinners.
I will say, as this is the 3rd time out with the new TFO 5wgt/10 foot rod, I love that rod already! Very sensitive tip and the longer length gives me confidence when playing fish. In fact (and I will probably jinx myself for saying this) I have not lost a fish on it yet!
