    Little Juniata April 19-20

Fished the Little Juniata on the 19th from about 9 until 2:30 when the storms came through. Water was running around 55 degrees. Grannoms were super thick at times but the fist weren't really taking anything on the surface. Mostly taking emergers. Took a few on grannom soft hackle, sparkle pupa, and pineapple express. Fished again on the 20th for a few hours late afternoon into early evening. Water dropped down to about 52 from the rain and cold temps over night. The grannoms really slowed down and not much was going on. Took a few fish on the swing and lift with soft hackles and sparkle pupa again. That seemed to be the only way I could get them to take anything. I'm sure those cold temps last night will delay the emergence today, but it looks like Monday/Tuesday should be awesome. A few pics, although I don't have any of the HOGS the AJ posts but oh well.

Aaron's fish are certainly nice but any trip report with a line up of mug shots like yours is not too shabby either. Nice brownies.

Thanks. I had to work for them because the fish just don't seemed to be turned on to the bugs completely yet. I think this weather has them screwed up.

A trout is a trout. Well done doing whatever it took to get them!

That's true, but I would LOVE to get into the hogs that you do. I guess I just need to suck it up and make a trip to the West Branch.

I've landed big fish on the Little J. They are there, you just have to fish a lot!

Peen, how far are you from the youghiogheny? That river has some slob trout. I hooked a huge rainbow there and didnt land him. But theres a trophy trout stretch that is appropriatly named.

I'm about 90 miles from the Yough. I was doing some work near Confluence last year and had some crazy old man telling me "big fish stories" about the the Yough, but maybe he wasn't so crazy after all.
