    Catskills 6/17-18/2007

took justin up to the west branch for his first trip up there. we fished the first night from 11pm-3am. the night fishing was great! we caught about 20 trout from 15 inches to 20 inches +. the trout were jumping all around us. justin thought it was really cool and i must admit the fishing was very impressive.

the next moring we woke up and got to the river at about 11 am. we fished mainly in the upper west brach... and no not only the no kill. we caught a lot of trout. the largest was measured at 20 and a quarter inches. justin did quite well landing a half dozen... good job buddy. we caught fish in every spot. just to tell you how good the fishing was i got at least ten fish from one spot. i am surprised that there arent more guides working? the fishing was very good and justin commented on how no one was catching fish??? with how good that fishery is and how fickle it could be more people should hire a guide there. also, the guides that we ran into today were extra courteous and went way out of our way... i was impressed. we quite early at about 7. we had well over 30 trout landed between the both of us. most of the trout were caught on some sort of SULPHER nymph in a size 16. there were quite a few fish rising in spurts including a few large ones. i will try to have the pictures up tomorrow. also watch out for the video... we shot some good footage today.

no the worm got turned down by the trout. he tried it in every spot. thank god that the worm didnt work. every time i tell him that it wont work anymore he gets a fish on it. i was finally right!! we should fish the river sometime.... up for it? did you see many fish rishing the rest of the way? when you passed us fyi there was a huge fish that rose. i am not talking 20 " but more like in the two foot range. i saw it right before you came down and it came up twice after you floated by. if i had dry flies and not those stupid nymphs i might have had a chance. so when you are floating down next time see if that bad boy comes up!!! when you get it i want to see the picture!!
