Honest to god...how the heck do you guys add photos or embed videos on this site???

I started this same path this summer, realized I just used the same things over and over again and didn't know why i carried around an already stripped down bag. The revelation really happened when I was warmwater smallie fishing, and realized I used the same wooly bugger pattern and the same popper pattern, and couldn't figure out why I had a giant box of other crap.

Buying a 1wt and wet wadiing trout streams further reinforced the junk I was carrying, once I started dropping a few needed items into a shirt pocket, and just pinning retractors all over myself.

My goal is to wear a lanyard with all tools and two spools of tippet, and if I have to supplement it, I have a little bag I'll clip to my wading belt. I'm quite sure it can easily be accomplished, except I'm having problems paring down my fly selection to fit the tiny box I selected.

At this point, as an interim step, I'm upsizing to a bigger 12 compartment box. That's it.

Figure hare's ears and pheasant tails is pretty much any mayfly nymph. Wrap some dubbing and rib around a curved hook, and I'm done for caddis. Partridge and peacock for a wetfly. Usuals, generic parachutes, and the Royal Wulff for dries. That's all. All the flies will be from 14 to 20, and maybe 2 or 3 of the median sizes, except the Wulffs will go from 12 to 16. Tools are quite simple, a nippers like a Tye-Fast (file, eye cleaner, nail knot and clippers all in one) and a hemo/scissors combo, but pretty much any hemo to double as a pliers will be just fine.
