what is your faviorte fly shop

I use to go to a fly shop in penndelton village I cant remeber the name of the place at the moment but there is a guy mark ,and another older gent there who taught me who to build fly rods and I have to say it is tothis day still one of the coolest shops Ive been to ,so what is your shop?

Seeing as I manage one (Housatonic River Outfitters), I'm too biased to give you an answer about the local fly shops, so I'll tell you my favortie one out West: George Anderson's Yellowstone Angler. Great shop, perfect layout, great product selection, knowledgeable staff. They have what you need, all the best stuff, and none of the BS. And it's in Livingston, right by the Yellowstone and near a bunch of other great fisheries!

for buying things over the phone i think Housatonic River Outfitters is very good because Torrey knows what he's doing unlike so fly shops in Nj

I won't answer with the obvious.

My favorite fly shop was called Fly Fishing Plus in Riverdale NJ. I shopped there from when I was 17 right through college. The owner was John Houghtailing. He was one of the most friendly people I have met in fly fishing to date. I met many great people there and still keep in touch with a few of them. It was a place where you could go for a whole day and shoot the $#!^, tie flies and speak to other anglers about what was happening on rivers throughout the region. Whenever we had off because of snow I was over there making flies or getting lunch. I learned about many of the places I fish today from going there. This is the place where I learned of the excellent fishing in CT.

Unfortunately, there were a few really large stores in the area and they demaded that FFP not sell certain product lines. I won't mention the name of the place, but I will say that there are two in Bergen Co. and one in Morris Co. Its a shame but these places put him out of business. Now you get to go to one of these "department stores". The salesmen there know nothing about the fishing in there area. I always liked the intimate feel to the small local fly shop.
