Well, this is one of those days where you're waiting for someone to give you something to do and staring out the window thinking I wish I could just ditch work right now. So, instead, I spent the day watching youtube, hahaha. Anyway, a product of my dillydallying is that I found this pattern video. I don't know what you czech masters think, but it looked like a pretty simple tie to me.

Davy McPhail is a good friend of my buddy Harry Wallace, a transplanted Scottsman living in CT. I met Davy a few years ago and got to watch him tie that fly and many more, he is a very talented tyer, and makes a full time living at it in Scotland. Harry reports that Davy's flies are very effective. I like his Czech style nymph.

That's a great video. I like the scapel technique he uses to make the legs. The fly really comes to life with that one little step.

Anyone know where I can get that thin "lead tape" he uses to weight the fly? That stuff looks like it would be great for weighting smaller flies and for tapering the weight, as he does in the video.

Got the tape at the shop, it's merely adhesive backed lead tape, like you would use to make the underbody on a Zonker. You cut it into strips, peel the backing, and wind it on.
