I'm a big fan of the Coq De Leon feathers for smaller nymphs. The wood duck fibers are just to fragile and tend to break off after one or two fish. Even pheasant tail fibers have that happen to them as well. The CDL fibers are much stronger and last much longer than the wood duck.

    Rick,

It was nice to meet you in person. The show was really good. My favorite part was at the end I got to talk with Joe Humphreys and George Daniel. We talked a lot about a certain "C" word. I am looking forward to seeing George's book. One of the things that we discussed is how much the nymphing has changed for both of us over the last bunch of years. What he started off writing his book about is much different than what it is now. We are all still learning. It's amazing how much the nymphing has been innovated. There are some many techniques to choose from and they all work under the right conditions. The one thing that I told Joe was thanks so much for "plowing" the path so that fly anglers are more accepting of fishing sub surface. Before George and Joe did what they did, it was a dry fly and wet fly game only here in the US. They really contributed a great deal to our enjoyment of fly fishing. It's probably more than we will ever even realize! With that being said it's so much fun to be learning new things all of the time.

Oh man, if I had knows Aaron had decided to go, I would have definitely taken the short trip over. Although, getting the first outing of the year wasn't a bad alternative. I am a huge Joe Humphrey's fan, and read his book at least once each spring. It's a fantastic guide for anyone who hasn't picked it up yet.

That's waht makes this sport so much fun. Peole like Joe, George, Davy, Aaron and others who are the real innovators that keep s us all learning. What's even better is we have access to so many of the top people to tap their ideas and knowledge. Weather its dry, dry /dropper, nymphs, streamers, there are so many different ways to fish each technique. I think the worst thing we as anglers can do is constantly fish the same place and same techniques. I can't wait for the spring !!!!
