That is a beauty! Nice work FlyDad! That looks like a nice stretch of the Salmon. Can't wait to get back up there.

We should all do a TPO Steelhead trip sometime, maybe on the Salmon.

I use a Sage 10ft 8 wt xp. I like the 8wt because it will handle salmon or steelhead. Even though I dont really go for the salmon any more. For steelhead I'm sure a 7wt would be just fine. I think some guys even use 6 wt rods but I think you would have to be pretty handy with a rod if you go that lite.
As far as flies go it depends on what time of the season you go. Egg flies and black stone flies with different color hot spots are always good. For reals and line I use a Ross bg4 with rio steelhead floating line. And I also have a lamson valosity with a running line for swinging flies. You can also attatch A sink tip and swing bigger flies like egg sucking leaches or wooly buggers.

Yes, TPO outing up at the Salmon, or any L. Ontario tribs, I'm in!

Mike, in regards to equipment, I started a post a few months back called "Steelhead Gear/Tactics" that has been fully answered in depth with lots of great info, btw.

In regards to a rod, I believe (with almost 100% certainty) that Aaron and Torrey feel that the ultimate/perfect "Great Lakes rod" is a 7 wt. 9'6'', or 10''. But, as I said the other post (in Equipment), definitely has a lot of info and detail. I can see how an 8 wt. could be a really versatile rod, to go after the salmon and steelhead. I almost used a 6wt my first time up, and Aaron lent me a 7 wt. Had he not, that 6 wt. would have broke, undoubtedly with some of the bigger salmon. From what I've read and heard, the fish in L. Ontario are larger on average, so in the L.Erie tribs, I've read about people using a 5 or 6 wt. (that still may be a crazy thing to do though).
