Mantis,
It is the yellow and black 24 ft DC RIO line.. Nymphmeister is the one who advised me to get it. Hopefully he will expound on the merits of DC lines for us.

The RIO "density compensated" simply means that the line will cast like your normal weight forward fly line... Well maybe a little more aggresively These lines cast much more effortlessly than let's say a Tenny line, where often times you will shoot it or even lob it to make the cast.

The RIO line is the best, in my opinion, not only because of the design and castability, but also because the running line floats an does not get tangled up on wading shoes and rock on the bottom

The similar SA lines have intermediate running lines and can cause many obvious problems when wade fishing.

When Rio states "body" they mean in the 24ft sinking section. Most sinking lines have a tapered front end to aid in line/leader turnover. The early sinking lines/tips had a problem with the tapered tip having less density than the body. The body will sink quickly and the tip would sink slower,, this made a upward curve in the line end/leader and it was more difficult to detect strikes.

The newer lines (actually about 20+ years now) are called "Density Compensated" and have a higher density of tungsten in the plastic coating on the tip,,, this makes the line sink like a level sinking line. I believe SA was the first to offer this DC design in a full sinking line. Later they made sink tips with DC (12ft-24ft) and had inter. or floating lines for running lines.

Teeny has offered a line for many years that is a level sinking tip T-300 etc. with 24ft of SA "Hi Speed -Hi D" sinking line with a floating running line.

We are in the "Golden Age" of fly lines today, the selection/decisions will make your brain hurt.
