A survivor!

I hit the KLG this afternoon for a couple of hours figuring the rainy weather might make for some good fishing. First off, I slipped about five steps into the river and knocked my knee up pretty good. Not a good start. I fished pretty well in some great looking water but managed only a bunch of dinky browns. I think they were all young-of-the-year. It was nice to see them, but not really the quarry I was after. After a while I was ready to pack it in and on one of my last casts, I hooked this beautiful 15 inch wild brown. By far my biggest wild NJ fish. He must have avoided all the keepers out there.

I couldn't get that great of an angle on him, but it was great to get him. I know there are bigger ones in there. A couple of weeks ago I hooked and nearly landed a 20+ brown in the same vicinity. Lost him at the net. It was a bad moment for me but this guyheals the wound a little I hunted for the big guy today but no luck. Oh well, another reason to go back.

Sweet fish! I've been thinking about heading over there recently. The wild fish in there are amazing. Out of all the places I go trying to catch my 20'' wild fish the closest I've come is in there with a 17'' brown. The number of fish in there are amazing also. I think what keeps them alive in there is that most people can't effectivly fish the water where they live.

Sorry to hear about the knee and the big fish. I share your pain with the fish I had a similar experience recently and I can't get the sight of the fish out of my head. I know the only cure is to finally land one.

Nice one! I need to stop in there and resume my pursuit of 'the one that got away' and flip me the fin as he went. I fish in Central and Eastern PA a lot and only recently started fishing the KLG. It has become one of my favorite places.

The big wild browns in there are absolutely gorgeous...I haven't been there since the early summer and I think I may head back soon. Nick...busy tomorrow? I also haven't Euro-nymphed since then so I could use a brush up. Keep on keepin' on for that one that got away eventually he'll come to net
