Online material sources, specifically Vladi Worm and Slumpbuster- and questions

Hello,

I'm sourcing some materials for some flies I want to tie, including those for the Vladi worm, and the Slumpbuster, but I can't find a place online to get materials for both. I have a nice sized basket on wflies.com, is there a place where I can get all the materials in one spot? It seems wflies only has chrimo braid, not sparkle braid or diamond braid. . Also, for the vladi, what is the advantage of using the shrimp foil and what disadvantages are their for tying the flie without it?


Wflies has the hooks for both, the magic foil, the latex, the zonker strips or squirel tails, etc. Is there a place you guys know that has materials for both?

also, do you have experience with wflies, blue ribbon flies, or the american fly tying site?

Just noticed most people tie the slumpbuster with squirrel zonker strips....not from squirrel tails.

I've had really good luck with wflies, John, is real nice and I've always received good product. J. Stockard is another site to check out.

Thanks for the heads up CD! I checked out Jstockard, and they have the squirrel zonker strips, if they have the braid im in. Looks like ill be ordering from both.

Simple rabbit zonker strips work well for this too..........

If I may.......... When you see worms in the drift they are uaually washed of most their color. Plain clear condoms with dubbing underneath can give a closer immitation than the brighter pink Crown condoms. Point being that you need not get hung up over the condom color. You will want the lubricated over the non as it is clearer than the powdered. A little harder to work with but...............

i did a very crude pseudo vladi worm as practice with dubbed underbox, and a clear stretch tubing *nymph ribbing*, over body, just making sure it was all covered.


turned out horrible as a fly, but the natural color *went with a sow dubbing blend*, looked okay.


Looks like ill be cutting up some of mine for a natural counterpoint. Brandon, as always very insightful. Ive seen natural vladi's online but with no real feedback. Also like your point about amidst the drift.....
