You got the money, I got the time............
I mainly fish western PA and I have recently gotten into fly tying (only about 3 months ago) With Christmas coming up I thought it would be nice to ask Santa for some Euro Nymphs Vladi Worms etc... I would like to get into Euro nymphing but would like to see proper tied flies in person/use them and decide what I like before I start to trying to tie my own patterns.
So my question is where/who could I contact that deals out good array of euro nymphs and vladi worms etc.. for a fair price and isn't a big corporate outfit. Kind of in search of a somewhat 'starters kit' or something that has a variety and could maybe offer me some info to go along with what and why these flies were chosen for me to check out.
thanks TPO!

Burgbum,
What flies are you having success with? You don't necessarily need polish woven body nymphs or Vladimir worms. In fact that worm has not been a major part of my arsenal for a long time. Don't have too many of them. It is a good anchor fly but there are other choices you could make that will actually catch fish.lol. Most of the flies in Aaron tying videos on this site have a couple things in common. Tungsten beads and lead wire under body. Other than that there is not much that would be characteriized as "euro nymph" that is unique in their construction.
Yea,I don't fish Vladi's either.

Burgh,
Contact Esopus Guy, he is not a big dealer, ties awsome flies, and he actually catches fish with them. You won't be disapointed.
The only starter kit you need is Aaron's DVD. All the information about euronymphing you will possibly need is there. The technique is paramount to flies. Western PA? You are one lucky fly fisherman to live there. Can you make a walt's worm and a rubber legs stone fly? Start with those two and branch out from there.
I know Aarons video is going to be awsome, but I don't think a bunch of flies are going to fall out when you open the package![]()
I had a HOT chick, fat freind joke :P..........
Hysterical.....
Oooooh, EG I dig the caddis larva version of Vladi's worm!

It's a catcher...... That was done with pearl ice dub and black dubbed head and then wrapped and mono ribbed. That's on a #10 Kahle B.O.K. Good grub immitation. Killer in the smaller sizes, on scud hooks done w/ chartruse rabbit for the caddis has had stupid catch rates. I think it to be an improvement on Lopat's Latex Larva
The vid is on here somewhere
Keep the change......![]()
