Decided to go to church today so i went to the upper Esopus. The water clariety was pretty good it had a little gray tint to it. I got 2 and lost one in about 3 hrs of fishing. I got all of them on stone fly nymphs. When i was fishing a pool i heard something walking behind me. When i looked back i saw it was a weasle. Never saw one of those things before but pretty interesting. Over all it was a good day but a little on the slow side.

I was hoping you were going up top and returning with stories of big serpants in skinny water. 3-4 seems par for the course in that section right now. Guess I know what I have to do tomorrow........ 8)

I was hoping of coming back to my computer in triumph and writing about, but the fishing gods had other things in mind. Ill just have to regroup and hit the upper E up again this week. i did some exploring and i have some key holes im gonna hit. I got a good feeling about them

Things seem to be turning around finally........

Water is slowly becoming clearer with each passing day. Still looks brown at first glance but it's fishable by my standards(they are very low). I spent 4hrs on the same 2-300yds of river. I would fish my way down,change flies,fish back up and repeat. I could drill the hell out of a peice with not a bump, come back 30min later and pull 2-3 out. This went on the whole time. Kept me giggling....... Pulled well over a dozen fish all in all. Pretty good day, better than it's been anyway.

I have to give props to Nymphmeister for one of best peices of advise for winter fishing which has been producing alot of what I've been bringing to the net lately and determining what water I stop to fish.

Tip) Fish water that's not moving faster than you can comfortably walk. Great little nugget right there.

Do you think the fish are starting to head to their winter holes already? I seem to be finding them in the deeper runs these days. Ugh old man winter is just around the corner I guess!

Everything I got into was in slowest deepest water I could find. Same when we were on the Houssy the other day.
