White Fly Time is Here

I was driving home from the Housatonic tonight and saw the late July snowstorm. Epheron Leukons are hatching in the lower TMA. I would think that by tomorrow they should be heavy in the Cornwall Bridge TMA. Even if the H2O is too warm for trout, the hatch is a spectacle in itself. Every fish in the river rises for this hatch.

Wow!

We were driving home from the Farmy last night. Around 10pm we almost got rearended as we turned off Rte 7 to cross Bulls Bridge. We stopped to look at the street light by the dam. It had a vortex of flies that looked like a tornado, from the ground up to the light about 10' across swirling.

Thanks for posting this Aaron, we thought they were midges or mosquitos from the distance.

I've heard stories of this hatch covering the bridge like an inch of snow. After seeing those picks I can believe it!!!

Nice pix. I can confirm that the White Flies are officially in the upper TMA now- Streamer sent some nice pix, said it was really heavy after 8:30 or so. For those of you who haven't seen it, it is a true BLIZZARD HATCH, like a snowstorm flying upstream.
